Beneath the Sweetgrass Moon 2016
Assistant Designer
Beneath the Sweetgrass Moon is based on authentic, traditional South Carolina African-American folktales, songs, games and ghost stories. As Assistant Designer, I created the looks of Foxxy Fox, Persimmon Possum, The Snake, and the Wisps. For all other costumes, I was able to pull from stock, alter purchases and create new costume pieces all within a set budget. Some of the techniques I used for the designs were hand dyeing fabrics, plush work, and props. The baby possum, snake head, wisp cloaks, and animal tails were constructed by me.
Disney's Aladdin Jr.
2015
Assistant Designer
Disney’s Aladdin JR. is based on the 1992 Academy Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within. As Assistant Designer, I was in charge of creating the looks for Jasmine, Jafar, and the ensemble all while keeping within a tight budget. I made over 50 pairs of harem pants, created the hats for Jafar and the Sultan, the puppet of Iago, and assisted with the magic carpet costume. This show had two full casts of different ages, which resulted in me assisting with over 100 costume pieces before the show even began.
Costume Shop: Seamstress
2013-2017
In addition to my design work, I was a seamstress for the Charleston Stage Costume Shop. I assisted with pulling costumes from stock, helping other designers create their visions, fittings for actors, minor prop work, as well as assisting back stage during certain performances. Some shows that I created costumes for include Little Shop of Horrors (2015), A Christmas Carol, (2014, 2017), Gershwin at Folly (2014), Mary Poppins (2016), The Producers, A New Mel Brooks Musical (2015), Peter and the Star Catcher (2017), White Christmas (2016), and Charlotte's Web (2014).
